MARCH 2014
Battle of the Books
Fifth and Sixth grade students finished reading their books in order to participate in Battle of the Books. Students set up teams, read from a list of eight books, then participated in a Jeopardy! type game. First, Second, and Third place teams walk away with real medals. Everyone who read at least 6 books attended an ice cream party.
Challenge of the Books
Third and Fourth grade students finished reading books from a required list. They were awarded medal based on the number of books they read. Four books earned them a bronze medal, 6 books earned them a silver medal, and all 8 books earned them a gold medal. Unfortunately their medals were just paper displayed on the wall, but they took home prizes at each level. Students in 3rd and 4th grade also
attended the ice cream party if they read at least 6 of the 8 books. Thank you to all participants and I hope it sparked a new love of reading.
